Often times people are reluctant to put their loved ones into hospice care. That might not make sense at first glance. Hospice care is supposed to be trained nurses helping to take care of elderly patients who aren’t capable of taking care of themselves.
That sounds great, right? Well, there’s frequently horror stories about the elderly being treated poorly, and those stories scare people off of hospice care.Thankfully this is not one of those horror story accounts of elderly abuse. It’s the complete opposite. It is a caregiver who goes out of his way to provide soothing relief to people through song. At Austinburg Nursing & Rehab Center in Austinburg, Ohio, a man named Joshua Woodard works as a hospice caregiver and does the most amazing thing. Joshua serenades a patient named Mary with a heartfelt performance of the classic Christian hymn, “How Great Thou Art.” You can see just how healing and soothing this bedside performance really is to the woman who is nearing the end of her life.
It’s a soothing and comforting way to leave the world, by being sweetly serenaded into whatever lies next! This is a truly moving video that comes from the Austinburg Nursing & Rehab Center in Austinburg, Ohio.
